100 NF2 Fighters Challenge: How-to fundraise online

Thank you for being one of the 100 fighters; if you have not joined yet, please sign up here

With your support, NF2 BioSolutions has launched and supported many novel therapy approaches. We are supporting several methods in parallel as we believe in a multi-modal approach since we don’t know yet what will work in the future. Of all the therapy approaches we are supporting, some have the goal of killing existing tumors, some have the goal of stopping tumor growth, and some search to stop new tumors from forming.

Today we need you to complete our fundraiser for jumpstarting the IND-Enabling Rat Toxicology Study, part of the IND Phase of the preparation for clinical trials for the Gene Therapy project at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The goal is for each fighter to raise/donate $1,000.  Please sign up here now to join this new challenge

This approach is a type of novel immunotherapy that has been used and it’s effective in other cancers. The cost of this study is $400,000. More details below:

Why are we fundraising? (Text you can use in your communications):

The groundbreaking Gene Therapy led by Dr. Meyer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital focuses on restoring the Merlin protein in the NF2 gene by using an AAV9 viral construct as a delivery mechanism. The efficacy of this construct is currently undergoing testing. Testing is also ongoing in the KO (Knockout) mouse and xenograft mouse models using intratumoral injections. We successfully showed the expression of Merlin in tumor cells, accompanied by reduced tumor growth in the xenograft model.
Pre-IND (Investigational New Drug) documents explaining our clinical trial plan are being prepared to be submitted to the FDA.

The toxicology study is the vital piece of the puzzle that helps ensure the safety and efficacy of the therapy before it reaches patients. It’s a critical checkpoint on our path toward finding a cure for NF2. With your help, we can take this important step and change lives.

Cost: $400,000. It covers the cost of the Rat Toxicology Study which is part of the Investigational New Drug (IND)

Research Lab: Dr. Katrin Meyer leads this project in her lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
