My name is Erika Kamen and I’m very excited to be the NF2 BioSolutions ambassador to the hard of hearing/deaf community. I was diagnosed with NF2 at age 5 after I had cataracts surgery. Since then, I’ve had several spine and brain surgeries along with several types of radiation as well as infusion. I became Deaf at age 21 and am now an advocate for hard of hearing, deaf and late deafened individuals. I never have and never will allow my disease to hold me back and I’m very excited about the prospect of a new cure through gene therapy.
