Cochlear Implants: I am bionic (Jade Joseph)

Hi my name is Jade,

I have a condition called neurofibromatosis Type 2, where tumours grow on nerves. Mine severely affected my hearing nerves, meaning I lost my hearing in 2020 and was put forward for cochlear implant surgery.

After discussions with my NF specialist team, they suggested that an Advanced Bionics cochlear implant was best suited to my needs, I trusted them and after my own research I was happy to go ahead. The best thing about my implant is that Advanced Bionics is highly recognised. The customer service is incredible and the app is fantastic. The wide range of accessories is fabulous.

Since activation, my life has changed. It’s almost gone back to my ‘hearing’ days. I’m able to have conversations, listen to music and hear my dog barking again! I am bionic, it’s a great conversation starter and I haven’t looked back. The best thing was, I was able to hear my wedding vows. My favourite sounds are my nieces laughter, it’s something money cannot buy. I’ve loved my journey and I really can’t wait to see what the future holds.
